A cat café (咖啡馆) is a café. People can come see cats there. The first cat café opens in Taiwan in 1998. Cat cafés become very popular in Asia.
Gato Café opens in June this year. It is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Giovanna Molinaro is the founder (创始人) of the café. People drink coffee with pictures of cats. They also buy biscuits and the biscuits look like a cat’s foot.
The cats stay in another room. They lie around and relax. The Gato Café is a place for abandoned cats and dogs, too. Abandoned animals do not have an owner. They must look after themselves.
